Convex Arcs

Ellipse & Bumpy Ellipse Rosettes
(a pair of rosettes)

The Bumpy Ellipse rosette is like the Holtzapffel D series of rosettes, and is a series of convex arcs wrapped around a circle.

The Ellipse rosette is smooth.

Aspect Value Comments
Pattern Convex arcs of a circle.
Pattern Repeated 32 times
Target Diameter
for Rosette Design
2”
  • A smaller diameter on the object results in surfaces which have sharper curves at the apexes of the curves.

  • A larger diameter on the object reverses this.

  • An amplitude adjuster can be used to modify these effects.
Phasing Holes 1/16 lobe If you need to go beyond 90° of phasing, flip the rosette over to the other side. The last phasing hole on one side equates to the 1st phasing hole on the other side, so advance to the 2d hole on that side.
Works For End Cutting Near side cutting
Far side cutting, or using rear rubber column
Side Cutting Near side cutting
Far side cutting, or using rear rubber column
Complementary Rosettes These rosettes are only paired with each other.
